Viola Śpiechowicz for Ochnik

Viola Śpiechowicz has designed a limited collection of leather garments and handbags inspired by musical instruments for the Ochnik brand. While creating jackets and coats, the designer had in mind comfortable and sophisticated cuts, hence she suggested several atypical and interesting solutions in the form of the rounded edge of the sleeve or collars, combining fabric with grain leather.

As for colour, the line is dominated by a mixture of brown and graphite and dark green. The limited women’s collection includes a leather dress, a coat à la Sherlock Holmes, a selection of jackets and a coat with a beautiful fabric collar, whereas the Gentlemen’s collection offers a crop leather jacket and an olive, nearly knee-length, hooded parka.

While creating handbags, Viola Śpiechowicz was inspired by the shapes of musical instruments – “I wanted not only to copy the shape but also the poetic character of the given instrument. What is characteristic about these bags is the combination of different textures of leather – hard elements have been combined with soft ones in such a way that the former keep the whole steady and the latter act as bellows allowing to regulate the volume of a handbag. It is this construction that lets a certain group of instruments emit sound. The collection includes the violin, the guitar, the bagpipes, the accordion and the harp”.
